The Great Escape to Brighton

The Great Escape 2015 21 Brighton is easily one of my favourite places in England. Whenever I’m there I exclaim loudly that I’m going to move there as my next home after London, when that’ll happen I’m not sure, but one day! A girl can dream.
We went down a couple of weekends ago for The Great Escape festival; you might remember that I went last year too. For those of you that don’t know, the festival is a brilliant celebration of new music from across Europe. My friend from over at Jenny DIY, long-time Internet pal and Brighton local, said this year could have been her best one ever! The weather was a little hit and miss to begin with but we were really fortunate for some fantastic weather on the Saturday - queue sitting on the beach and proclaiming I was never coming back to London, I even managed a wade into the sea. We strolled along the prom, ate fish and chips by the carousel and obvious had our fill of donuts and ice creams; a real foodie treat was our Mexican feast at Carlito Burrito.

Most importantly, we saw some incredible music! My highlights were the unforgettable Jack Garratt and the visceral force that are Slaves. A few new finds include Aroura, a beautiful young girl from Norway whose crystalline tones sooth and inspire and, sibling duo Broods – who make lyrical sadness sound uplifting and overwhelmingly lovely with their rousing synths and big sounds. We also saw a favourite of mine Tor Miller, who I urge you to listen to asap! As always with festivals, there were a hundred and one people we could have seen but time is as always the enemy! I’m certain we’ll be going back next year.

My photos are what I’d consider holiday snaps from around town. I didn’t take my camera around at night because to be honest, I was there for the dancing (and donuts). My camera was just an extra something I didn’t want to carry!

I do feel like the blog is rolling to a standstill at the moment and I’m sorry about that! With work and life, it’s taken a slight back seat of late but I’ll get back into the groove soon I’m sure. I hope you’re all having a restful Sunday on the sofa - I know I ate last night’s crumble for breakfast today and hope you did something similar!
